This is the translation of the Funeral eulogy that Théodore de Banville delivered at the burial of Baudelaire, published in L'Étendard, on Wednesday, 4 September 1867, p. 3. Banville notably highlights the novelty and place of the poetry of the author of the Flowers of Evil in the nineteenth century, especially in relation to Victor Hugo.References
