Drought workers: evacuees and artisans in public relief works (1877-1919)

This article aims to reconstruct the migrants’ (retires) and craft workers’ experiences in the context of great public relief works in Ceará during the droughts of the late nineteenth century. It mainly discusses the relationship established in the daily work of backlands and skilled workers, observing their differences and exchange of experiences in the workers’ struggle.
