This article examines two speeches by Othon Mader in favor of the squatters who participated in the 1957 Squatters’ Revolt, between December 6 and 9, 1958, in the Federal Senate. In the words of the senator, this was a direct accusation against the governor of Paraná, Moysés Lupion, for his “double responsibility” in the crimes committed against the squatters. In addition to this source, some oral interviews show the degree of organization of the squatters in the context of the revolt. They demonstrate enormous possibilities for research on this episode in the history of Paraná: class consciousness, land conflict, power relations, among others.
