Mallarmé again: Further notes on translation in dialogue with Barbara Cassin

The aim of this essay is to explore the notion of untranslatable from Barbara Cassin’s book In Praise of translation, published in 2016, considering, from there, the debate she proposes on homonyms in the face of which she suggests a translation strategy through the notion of morphing. The aim is also to present a translation of the poem “Salut” by Stéphane Mallarmé. In dialogue with previous translations of the same poem by Claudio Veiga, Dante Milano, Augusto de Campos and José Lino Grünewald, the objective is to consider what could be of the order of a translational arborescence.
