Abstract

The Information Science is a field of knowledge characterized by an interdisciplinary aspect. This is mainly due to the information, object of studies shared by CI and different areas of knowledge. In the last years, countless empirical and theoretical studies were developed, which evidenced the existent interfaces between the Information Science and the Semiotics. Such interconnections are due, above all, to the fact that the Information Science demands a better understanding of the information that relates to the processes of significance. In that article, the idea is to identify the existing points of convergence between the Information Science and the Semiotics, in view to enlarge the understanding of the information phenomenon in the contemporary age through the theoretical and practical perspectives resulting from that interaction.
