This article reflects on the impact of“The Making of the English Working Class” fifty years after it was first published. It focuses on the academic realm of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It analyses the readings of “The Mak-ing” in a particular political, disciplinary and institutional context (the post-dicta-torship Argentina), considering that the ways of reading are the result of historical constructions in process of constant reinterpretation.
