This paper presents a quantitative analysis of literature published in Brazil from 2020 to 2023, aiming to examine the status of translated literature, particularly of indirectly translated literature, within the Brazilian literary system. This study reviews the theoretical and methodological complexity found in research which has indirect translation as its theme, as well as the notions of translation norms, as proposed by Toury, and literary polysystems, as theorized by Even-Zohar, employed to analyse the gathered data. This paper quantifies literature translated indirectly in Brazil, reflecting on the translation norms that guide the practice.
