“Uniguaçu Dance Project”: weaving pedagogical experiences

Abstract

This report presents pedagogical experiences related to the activity of dancing concerningthe “Uniguaçu Dance Project”. It was one of the programs developed by the Unidade deEnsino Superior Vale do Iguaçu, from União da Vitória (PR), which offered dance classesto children and teenagers from public elementary schools. In order to point out suchexperience, brief considerations are presented , some reflections about the presence ofdance in school; the characteristics of that Project, its pedagogical conception and someresults obtained concerning the period between 2003 and 2009, when the activitieswere followed. The Uniguaçu Dance Project, despite its limitations, reached significantresults, conquered a space and contributed to the children and teenagers’ integrationinto the artistic universe.
