In the mid-1940s, Bahía Blanca was one of the main railway hubs in the interior of the country, and the branch lines that transported rural produce from a wide area of influence, covering the southwest of the province of Buenos Aires and the Patagonian territories, converged there. As a result, the city had a significant set of railway facilities, consisting of stations as well as logistics, maintenance and repair units. In these spaces, the Unión Ferroviaria y La Fraternidad had an important group of affiliates linked to the various sections that operated in Bahía Blanca.
