Through the meaning given by workers to commemorations and celebrations in their working place, at their class associations and in the streets we will present the forms and mechanisms they adopt to create their own options of leisure having their cultural universe as reference. These processes of celebration are seen as moments of leisure that reinstate identity between the workers of a small town in the interior of Ceara. Camocim, the place of reference of our main investigation, is a town where the sea port and the railway were economically determinant up to the time of our study and where Communist activism/militancy was extremely active in the social spaces we studied. We look on to railway workers, salt-makers, seamen and port, among others are the ones that re-invent their daily routines to enjoy themselves.
