This article analyses a set of oral narratives of workers who took part in the famous 1968 metalworkers strike in Osasco. In the 1980s, during the Brazilian redemocratization process, silences and repressed memories of these workers emerged. Since 1987, I have examined these traumatized remembrances, which are
vital for a specific process of identity formation. In this article, I focus particularly in the workers struggle against the forgetfulness and the official authoritarian memory and history about the strike.
