Abstract

This article aimsto discussome aspects ofthe Brazilian educational reform in the nineties. In the first place it presents the main goals and priorities of the reform. Then it moves on to highlight some of its contradict of aspects, and finally analyzes some consequences ofits implementation, especially for teachers training. The approach considers educators as an occupational group and rises hypotheses to explain why the govemment draws distinctive vocational educational policies for workers and teachers.
