The bilingual edition of Ai Qing Viagem à América do Sul is the result of an international research project, organized, translated and edited by Unicamp professor Francisco Foot Hardman, in collaboration with Peking University professor Fan Xing. Ai Qing (Jinhua, 1910 – Beijing, 1996) is one of the greatest poets of modern Chinese literature. His works have been translated into many Western and Eastern languages. In 1954, Ai Qing traveled to South America on the occasion of Pablo Neruda's fiftieth anniversary. In this book, we have 21 poems directly linked to this journey of the poet gathered in a single volume. It is also the first book by Ai Qing translated directly from Chinese into Brazilian Portuguese, edited and published in Brazil. The book won the ABEU award in 2020 and was one of the finalists for the Jabuti award in the translation category.
